Specimen #14 Orange Hawkweed
AKA Devil's Paintbrush
Hieracium aurantiacum

This plant is considered a non-native invasive plant to North America. Since we saw it everywhere we went -- urban and rural -- I can say that yes, it is everywhere. This plant secretes toxins and crowds out neighboring plants. What a bully.

Julie,
Kay Meyer from the Brenton Arboretum here. Thanks for linking us to your blog. I love the 100 plant challenge - something I will definitely take up next spring.
I have been trying to find my "blogging" voice. I am not a chatty writer - I'll keep trying.
Kay
