100 Species Challenge -- Species #19

Specimen #19 Chicory

Chicorium intybus

Not native.

I see this plant everywhere I go, whether I am hunting a cache or not. Roadsides are common places to see chicory. More info here.

Chicory has been used (not by me) for a coffee substitute and herbal tea. Although I have not seen this, chicory also comes in a white form and a rose form according to this website.

Note: Blogspot thinks it is smart and rotates my photos for me. Apologies. If anyone can tell me how to control this, let me know.
