Specimen # 10
Virginia Bluebells
Mertensia virginica
Photo by me, April 2006, Margo Frankel Woods.
Margo Frankel Woods is the home of GCNDGP, Billy Goats Bluff. This terrain is right up my alley since I grew up with hills like this in my backyard.
Also of note is Margo Frankel. You tend to not notice the honoree in place name situations, and I had no idea who Margo Frankel was until a few years ago.
Bluebells, like so many spring flowers, are ephemeral. That means that the leaves die and are not visible during summer.
